“AI” models are suffused with US values and, occasionally, those are quite shocking to us non-Americans

An Icelandic police force used a generated image to promote a public notice

People were absolutely horrified

Why?

Because the cop in the image had a gun, in a holster, AROUND CHILDREN 😱

The uniform was also not accurate for an Icelandic cop but what people found obscene was the idea that anybody would carry a gun around children, even holstered

@baldur Btw, in Iceland, Police doesn't use guns. Never. They don't need to.
Fun Fact: In Germany, police cars have a compartment in the door where police officers can put their guns in. This lead to a culture shock when this type of car was presented to UK police (which was consindering buying police cars from Germany) because in the UK, police officers generally don't carry guns.
@hallunke23 @baldur well technically there's is the Special Forces. They have weapons. But they're the only ones with guns. But there's a whole thing going on with the police in Iceland and weaponry. They want to start carrying tasers and stuff. Not sure if that's become allowed yet.
