@atpfm such an entertaining episode, well worth the yearly cost by itself! CD-R clearly S-tier, John wouldn’t put Gutenberg in S-tier because ink on paper goes bad if you leave it in the rain… @siracusa

@simoner @atpfm @siracusa @caseyliss the whole ranking system is flawed. John insists on considering the medium as if it was present day (because let’s face it, punch cards should be F by todays standards), and yet will down-vote something because of issues that are mostly visible with hind-sight. The CD-R was revolutionary. As Marco put it, it allowed our computers to do more things than they could do before.

@miketaffet I think CD-R doesn’t belong in S due to things that were problems with the media at the time it was in its prime. Hindsight is why I’m OK with it being as high as A.
