Listen - the new Japandroids album may be overly sentimental and twee to the point of cliche - but that's baked into the experience. While Fate & Alcohol may not reach the peaks of Celebration Rock (what could?), I find it to be a glorious coda to one my favorite bands. It's all heart, sweat and tears. The guitars swell, the drums thunder, and I couldn't help but feel moved. It's a glorious, messy end to a band I'll miss very much.
