It's a common tactic among sophists to nebulously gesture in the general direction of a topic with the appearance of disagreement. When they do this, their positions are actually too vague to attack, and that's actually the entire point. They're hoping you'll engage without clarifying anything because they know the position isn't solid enough to be hit, which allows them endless opportunities to shift the goalpost. This is why clarifying questions are kryptonite to the vast majority of sophists.
