#VOTE!! 1/2

Via Stephen Fowler:

Today’s the first day of early voting in #NorthCarolina, and I spent part of it in Yancey County, one of the hardest-hit areas still reeling after Helene.

Elections director says *RECORD* turnout of over 600 voters so far today, including people who’ve lost everything.

@GottaLaff

I'm an NC poll worker, and want to spread the word that ANYONE in a county under a National or State state of emergency after the hurricane can vote in ANY county in NC.

@jcct @GottaLaff provisional ballots have always been a thing.
@jcct @GottaLaff to add to that, what? Let's see a source cause ... I haven't seen that.

@unfunnyryan @GottaLaff

Here's an article about the added flexibility which says that ballots can be dropped off at any polling station in the state.

But we were specifically told in training to allow people from affected counties to vote.

North Carolina gives counties affected by Hurricane Helene voting flexibility

North Carolina’s election board voted to give residents in the hurricane-affected areas greater flexibility to vote by mail and run their elections.

@jcct @GottaLaff thank you. Living here and have not heard

@unfunnyryan @GottaLaff

Yeah, we were all surprised when they told us.

@jcct @unfunnyryan @GottaLaff Wish they'd put something up on the NC board of elections site! If it's there, I can't find it.

@epicdemiologist @jcct @unfunnyryan @GottaLaff

Yea exactly! I looked. A page so terrible it's weaponized incompetence.

@unfunnyryan @GottaLaff

These would not be provisional.

CORRECTION: These ARE provisional unless you are dropping off a mail in ballet.
@jcct @GottaLaff My sister lives in Eastern NC so she's fine except for the part where she thinks Mark Robinson is awesome.🙄
