Hey, so the text of Ars Magica 5th Edition core rulebook is now officially licensed under the CC-BY-SA 4.0, as far as we at Atlas Games are concerned, thanks to the generosity of Ars Magica fans supporting the new Definitive Edition crowdfunding campaign.

When we distribute the entire text of the Definitive Edition to backers from the first 48 hours (which will happen later this week), it will include the Creative Commons notice/info!

@Johnnephew That’s awesome! Do you take donations as a big „Thank you!“ ?

(asking, because I can’t donate send money via backerkit: no credit card — as is quite common in the EU)

@ArneBab We don't have a specific way to take donations, but thanks! If you spread the word about our campaign that is a big help.

@Johnnephew already done so here ☺

Going to cc by-sa is awesome! It’s how RPGs should be (because there’s so much creativity within gaming groups that can flow free and combine with other groups when using free and copyleft licensing).

@ArneBab @Johnnephew they do have a means of getting people physical and digital copies for a fee, so if you wanna give them money buy the $20 (this is rounded up) digital copy for someone.

@anoraktrend once the cc by-sa versions are their default sold ones, I will.

@Johnnephew

@ArneBab @anoraktrend We're not releasing separate CC BY-SA versions of things -- we're just declaring the text (not layout or artwork) as licensed.

The Definitive Edition manuscript is a little different because we were distributing only the raw text to all the backers in the first 48 hours. So those files are entirely CC BY-SA and can be freely copied, shared, and remixed/modified/adapted according to the BY-SA license.

@ArneBab @anoraktrend

@Johnnephew that clears it up — thank you!

So I can just buy the already released books as they are available and know that the text is cc by-sa.
