I just deleted my Twitter account.
I saw a viral pro-H*tler tweet on my timeline with 66,000 likes and 9.5 million views. That was enough for me to ensure my posts donโt contribute any value to that garbage dump.

@carnage4life Congrats on not letting the steadily warming water dull your senses completely.
We know where it is going to end.
It was time. Glad to read this.
Good for you! It is hard to walk away from something that you have devoted so much time and energy to build. But the old Twitter is no more. You are doing the right thing. Thank you.
@carnage4life It won't be deleted for 30 days. If you log back in until then, it'll be restored.
Hopefully you can resist the urge, you don't go back.
I know it took me a couple of deactivates then it stuck. I've been free of X since 7.21.24

@carnage4life I've deliberately not deleted my account because I don't want anyone reusing my identity, but I've not posted anything there in the past three years, and I also don't read it.
I mean, why would you?
@carnage4life @mekkaokereke I switched my Twitter account to read-only a few months ago.
In my case the immediate trigger was Twitter arbitrarily changing the content of people's posts because Elon Musk does not want people to write twitter.com .
But it was already quite bad over there then and it is worse now.

@carnage4life More accounts leaving X is always a good thing even if it's admittedly a bit late, let's hope this viral pro-Hitler stuff will ve the last straw for many others
And people need to stop the 'I stay because accounts I like are still there' and go on the offense by convincing these accounts to open accounts on Threads / Mastodon
@deriamis
I was persuaded when I saw that most Fediverse server admins subscribed to a code of ethics, and that they could flat out block access server-wide to a server full of hate speech.
Congrats on your act of self care.
