Trying to convey in game, the feeling when someone is info dumping on you, and you are fucking hype to hear it.
Anyone got examples?
I met an arborist last week who "does oaks" and "dabbles in elms". And it was phenomenal listening to him. I asked ignorant questions like "I have always thought they are planting the trees too close together on nature strips" and he would come back with a story naming five more people from his community.

How do we get this interaction in a game, without a fuck tonne of text that no one will read?
Is it comics? Maybe it is comics?

@maize yeah I feel like I can see a night-in-the-wood style comic panel with text just kind of piling up behind the character as they stare at the other person
@caitelatte omg?? that is phenomenal. And with some words bold and wiggling or something.
@caitelatte you have to click the words before they are covered by other words piling!!!
@maize yes! you're comprehending like 1 out of 4 sentences they're saying but they're good sentences!
@caitelatte this is fucking hilarious. And you don't have your own reply dialogue options, you are just picking highlighted words to help direct the info-dumper, while you absorb.
Maybe if you revisit them, you can try pick the words you missed out on?
If you pick a word while they are talking you interrupt them, and later you will have to try trigger them to talk about that word again. So there is a sense of "will I/won't I interrupt them" because every sentence is gold.
Maybe at any time you can "yeah!"
@maize a cycling option of "yeah!" "ahhh" *nods* "ohh!" "ooooh"
@caitelatte exactly hahahahahahaha. "right!"
