To all of my fellow leftists who hate the fact that Harris isn't left enough, I wonder what y'all would have done when Hitler was rising to power in Germany. Would you have sat on the sidelines angry that the ruling party wasn't left enough? Or would you have recognized the real threat of fascism?

I know some people will get angry and say "They're both fascist parties". But only one is explicitly talking about immigrants poisoning the blood of 'real' Americans. Only one is explicitly talking about mass deportations using the army. Only one is talking about invoking the Alien Act of 1798, the same law used to round up *legal* Japanese-American immigrants and citizens.

It is perfectly legitimate to be angry about Harris not being left enough - I am! It's fine to be annoyed that we have the electoral college and FPTP - I am! It's fine to hate that winner-takes-all means third party votes are not represented - I hate that too!
But if the choice is between the US' Hitler and anybody even remotely left of that, I'm picking the latter. Note that this excludes the GOP fascist enablers b/c they only differ rhetorically.
But Harris isn't calling for kicking out legal immigrants. Harris isn't talking about denaturalization.
And *again*. Even if your single issue is Gaza, the likelihood of a ceasefire under Harris is 1,000,000% more likely than under Trump (who is lusting after a war with Iran and who wants Israel to annex the West Bank outright).
Am I happy that the Overton Window seems to have shifted right on some issues? Absolutely not. But it *absolutely* has not shifted to the right on everything. Even with Gaza, one party is at least *mentioning* Palestinians while the other dehumanizes them. One party is robustly defending abortion, LGBTQ+ rights, unions, etc, while the other attacks them.
Stop pretending Trump is a normal candidate because he is *not*. He is the US' Hitler, and we have to defeat him.
Yeah, I want a robust third party system. Yeah, I want ranked-choice voting. Yeah, I want proportional representation. Yeah, I want the Dems to move further left.
None of those things will happen if Trump wins. The way we push Dems left is by running for office and building robust coalitions. The way we get the other things is by organizing. Neither will be easier (or necessarily *possible*) under a second Trump admin.
