EU Code Week

October 14 - 27, 2024: a week to celebrate coding in Europe, encouraging citizens to learn more about technology, and connecting communities and organizations who can help you learn coding.

@EUCommission implement a legal enforcement of #PublicMoneyPublicCode

thanx

one of your citizen

@derPUPE
Great news ๐Ÿ‘ thanks.

Another citizen.

@EUCommission

@EUCommission "Cheers to the future future code legends!"?
@tml @EUCommission That's a perfectly acceptable sentence, but a comma would've helped.

@EUCommission what's with the "late-night debuggers"? If you have to work late at night you are clearly not good at what you're doing.

Or is it about glorifying those people who give up on work/life balance?

@jeena

"If you have to work late at night you are clearly not good at what you're doing."

Disagree :)

@EUCommission

@selea @EUCommission the key word is "have to" in my sentence and without a counter argument I have no idea why you would disagree.

@jeena

Since you were extremely general in your first post, you should consider making it more specific.
Sometimes people "have to" work late because of other factors - not themselves.

@EUCommission

@jeena Work? ๐Ÿคจ You think coders "work" when they late-night debug? I don't think I've late-night debugged for money ever in my life.

Late-night debugging kernel modules for funsies on the other hand... I think last time was Friday. ๐Ÿ˜…
@EUCommission

@EUCommission I think the filter for the eventsโ€™ page does not work on Safari (mobile, at least)
@EUCommission oh! oh! i have an idea! let's not cut funding for free and open source software as of 2025 to achieve that :) because late-night debuggers and bug-fixing warriors tend to stick around longer when they are - y'know - able to pay their bills.

@EUCommission so how's that funding for Open Source projects going? ๐Ÿ‘€

#FLOSS

@EUCommission maybe it would be worthwile to encourage people "to explore coding and careers in" arts & humanities, too?
@anwagnerdreas @EUCommission โ€œlate-night debuggersโ€ wrong! Thatโ€™s not very healthy, a good night sleep is better. Also better for code quality.
