I'm an immigrant and I prefer to speak English here. I also find it irritating that almost all official information is only in German.
That said, this is Germany and the language of rhe population is German, no matter how many of us immigrants are here. I would find a fully multilingual culture nice but I hardly can expect one. It's my task to figure out how to navigate the local system and adapt. But like in the article, finding help to do so could be made easier.

Do immigrants have to learn German in Germany?

There's a gap between Germany's need for skilled labor and the experiences of many immigrants trying to integrate. Germany's bureaucracy and job market culture is often not geared to help them.

@lehtimaeki Netherlands is pretty close to multilingual with government websites having English versions
@caio yeah, I think Finland as well. Smaller countries seem to be more understanding of the difficulty of learning their language.and more willing to accommodate others on the same level.
