Why would Putin spend time talking to Trump after Trump left office? Reportedly had multiple private phone calls.

As far as I know, this is totally unprecedented. And I can’t think of a plausible reason that isn’t very bad.

I do not doubt that Trump's conduct is nefarious, but would we be as concerned if these were conversations with former President’s Obama, Bush, or Clinton?

We wouldn't for the others, but whether we agree with decisions made by those former presidents, there's never any doubt that they at least served America. They also didn't abscond with boxes of classified documents and actively obstruct efforts to have them returned like Trump did. 🤷‍♂️
