October #gratefuldead: The October 9, 1972 Winterland Roadie Benefit performance of “Brokedown Palace” is one of the most exquisite early 1970s versions I know, all criteria considered.

The SBD of the 10/9/72 #gratefuldead show is really worth your time. Its mix is album worthy, there’s the benefit of a relaxed hometown show, it’s one of the last perfect recordings of Fall ’72, and, IMO, there’s a large slab of great playing and singing within it.
