The woman on the left is Charity Cheiky, the co-founder of Ohio Scientific.

Ohio Scientific was the first company to sell microcomputers with hard disk drives—which they did in 1977. To give context, this was the same year the Apple II was brought to market.

This makes Charity Cheiky one of the computer industry’s true visionaries, an obscure one at that.

Charity Cheiky has since founded multiple companies, and holds several patents under her name.

The first computer I ever programmed was a Ohio Scientific Challenger 8P. 8" disc drives, them were the days.

@atomicpoet Blast from the past. My first computer was an Ohio Scientific that I bought in 1981. No hard disk though.

@atomicpoet

I wanted a Challenger as a teenager and didn't get it.

@atomicpoet I had a Superboard 2 - great value, good machine. Built a lot of peripherals for it, and used one for work, controlling a sound system!
