I like this decision, and the article— it touches on some important points, like representation, or when it might be appropriate to leave the field blank.
To any feeling overwhelmed with alt text, I want to throw in a single question I was asked when I started writing alt texts:

"If your image failed to load, what would you want your audience to know about it?"

@pixel_dailies I wonder, can people using assistive technologies read and enjoy pixelart? Like maybe with a braille device? Would be especially interesting to hear from a person with experience
