Was sitting listening to the debate last night and thought “fuck this, I’m making a loom”.

Used an old stretcher from a painting and then carved a needle from some birdseye maple scraps I had.

Anywho, I be weaving.

@studiofox Wow! Impressive.
@LilPecan thanks! I’ve never done this before so we’ll see how it goes - just really got the hankering for giving it a shot.
@studiofox If you look online you can see how to design a shuttle. It can save you some time by lifting every other thread up so you don't have to weave through with the needle. It isn't necessary but you might want to try it once you finish your present project.
@studiofox Actually, I see you are using a ruler in place of a shuttle. Now I am even more impressed. Simple and effective.

@LilPecan so...actually...the tutorial i was watching had you put a piece of cardboard at the bottom as a starting point and i was just following that but didn't have any available cardboard that was long enough...

however! what you said makes a lot of sense and might be my next use of it - (i had originally been thinking about designing one out of an old paint mixing stick)

other plans include making a longer/thinner needle

@studiofox That’s really creative and cool! 🧵🪡
@SunnJax thanks! I think since I’ve been inundated with all the sewing and thread - I’ve just gone hardcore into fiber arts stuff? But at the same time I don’t want to spend money so…here we are.
@studiofox Looking forward to seeing your designs. I love Zapotec weavings.
