hi all -

Enel X Way is shutting down and removing all their software in less than two weeks which seems to mean all of us that own a $400 JuiceBox that required professional installation will have a semi-bricked unit, impossible to configure or ever move to another wifi connection: http://www.juiceboxnorthamerica.com/

uhhh, this is not acceptable?

@zzzeek I bought my JuiceBox earlier this very year, and kinda regret that now. The only alternatives that look truly good to me at this point are either the Tesla Universal (nice for the price, but I don't really want to buy from them) or the OpenEVSE (which is great and self-sustained, but you have to choose NACS or J1772).

IoT comes for us all eventually, I guess.

@bradsbrown im looking at grizzl-E since it's self contained in hardware and wont stop working if the company folds
@zzzeek interesting -- I'd looked at their Duo in the past bc we have 2 EVs, but assumed their smart products were cloud-based. That's good to know. I'm a little concerned at this point about the impending J1772->NACS changeover, though (both ours are leases, so next ones will likely be NACS).
