Today is #MacmillanCoffeeMorning day at work. We have a small office but we enjoy buns. I've baked brownies and made Top Hats. Roll on lunch time!

I'd best wear my elasticated trousers today.

@intheseheels I meant to say: your top hats are not my family’s top hats.

The ones Mum made were a fairy bun which she cut a plug out of the top, over filled it with buttercream, and put the plug back on as a hat.

@shezza_t @intheseheels My grandma did those, but the plug was cut in half and placed at angles and were called butterfly buns.

@stuart Mum did those too. And if she was feeling fancy, swapped a spoonful of flour for cocoa powder to make chocolate versions. And the same mix was often baked for birthday cakes.

So much variety from one bun recipe :)

@shezza_t @intheseheels Wee basic buns are one of my favourites. Especially when they're still warm but the edges have gone nicely crispy.

@stuart I didn’t make dairy buns in the end. To use up the last of the apples from my tiny tree I made oaty apple muffins topped with brown sugar. I’m categorising them as breakfast appropriate.
