Nintendo just 1984'd Ryujinx. F
I love it when greedy megacorps can just destroy things they don't like 🙃
@PJB Current moves by Nintendo are making it very clear that they absolutely do not care about video games as a medium. They would be equally happy to have no one play a single game, as long as they made as much money as they do today.
If you actually make a Nintendo branded game they will not tell anyone who you are; if you allow people to play games they already own however you want, they will shut you down; if you make games that compete with theirs, they will patent troll you.
@PJB what was the ryrujinx licence? If Nintendo only paid off the maintainer could some other major contributer who still has a recent copy of the source code cloned on their machine start a fork?
@PJB one of the devs listed on the website has a 5 month old fork of the project on his GitHub

@PJB "Nintendo offered an agreement"
No, it sounds like gdkchan deleted the organization of their own free will.

Emulation is legal. This would not have stood up in any court.
Not unless they could force the developers to be tried in Japan, where basically anyone suspected of a crime is immediately convicted.

Once again, it's is the fault of the developer who decided to shut down the project.

Fuck Nintendo. But also, fuck gdkchan. Ruining the work of many other developers and destroying the legal precedent that society has spent decades trying to create and maintain.

@PJB @bubbline I'm unimpressed by the dev team being so easily identified/contacted (in a legally meaningful way) and corrupted.
