@mcnado Chlorine is readily available, fortunately.

@ai6yr @mcnado
Unscented chlorine bleach 8 drops to a gallon - says FEMA

BUT HOW BIG ARE THE DROPS?!?!?
I smart-assedly asked our CERT trainers this afternoon.

@MsMerope

About 0.05ml (milli-litres) each, so about 0.4ml total.

He said smart-arsedly.

@ai6yr @mcnado

@MsMerope @ai6yr @mcnado A drop is about 40 microliters. This is pretty consistent in aqueous solutions due to the surface tension of water.
@CavedaleRhones @ai6yr @mcnado
lol gonna get out the turkey baster for measuring out my drops.
@ai6yr @mcnado Does it need to be from an UNopened bottle of chlorine? How does one compensate for a bottle that has been open for a while/ or expiration date? Just keep adding until you smell it in the treated water?
@ai6yr @mcnado After years of looking for the definitive answer, and not finding- I just looked again:
• Locate a fresh liquid chlorine bleach or liquid chlorine bleach that is stored at room temperatures for less than one year.
