@atpfm John's description of the ANC on "These Airpods" matches with my experience of the galaxy buds live. I'm sure the airpods are a lot less buggy but they're essentially the same in that they just reduce the bass and sounds up until what feels like 800-900 Hz. All the hissing sounds past those frequencies remain. And you lose a bunch of battery life. It's not useless, just disappointing.
