The Cookie Consent illusion:

Most users want to opt out of being tracked. Yet, many sites boast of high consent rates.

How? Through deceptive design:

- Hiding the "Reject" button, and making "Accept All" prominent
- Auto-accept by scrolling the site, with no obvious option to opt-out
- Pre-selecting tracking options
- Not as easy to withdraw as to consent

As per European laws, consent for cookie usage must be freely given, specific, informed, and unambiguous.

@plausible I particularly like the new choice between "Accept all" tracking and "Pay to reject" whereupon I assume you get tracked even more, just now with an account and less money. Not that intend to find out.
@jtonline @plausible That is also illegal in the EU → feel free to sue them

@shaedrich @plausible sadly, for reasons I'll be protesting about at the National Rejoin March III in London this week, I'm no longer in the EU :(
@jtonline @plausible Fingers crossed that you can one day rejoin 💪🏻
