Every consumer brand and lending company will tell you the economy is currently K-shaped with older, whiter, and wealthier Americans rolling in cash and spending like crazy and everyone else struggling to afford basic necessities, especially with rents going out of control.
I wish people would actually listen.
While Trump's core supporters are themselves more affluent, the affordability crisis is one of the reasons he keeps floating in the polls as people who otherwise don't pay attention to politics think -- wrongly -- he can bring back the 2019 economy, which wasn't that great either.
Republicans have tried to exploit this anxiety with anti-immigrant and crime hysteria bullshit, which Democrats have unfortunately contributed to in an ill-advised attempt to pander to white voters.
