@M0YNG a common question during #spectrum24 : why would somebody design a router in a formfactor so it can be stacked?

What on earth is the use-case of physically stacking routers?

@on1arf @M0YNG obviously for bulk-flashing them to OpenWRT to be used in mesh networks :) Flashed quite a lot of those in 2006-2009ish, stacking also helped when putting them into boxes to be connected to different sector antennas ;)
But generally Linksys also built other networking hardware (iirc VPN gateways and switches, not sure about modems) in the same form factor that would have made sense to stack.

@OE1RFC @M0YNG Well, there was a birds of a feature talk by the person of #battlemesh on OpenWRT and 802.11.s based mesh network. I was really impressed

It's one of these things that gets very easily overlooked by the #hamradio community (you know: "it's only wifi, not amateurradio"), but I think that in the context of emergency communication, it can be a very usefull tool.
put some of these routers in a plastic bag, throw them high up in some trees and you have emergency wifi network coverage.
