I think Marco is the human version of basic strategy in Blackjack.
If he always only ever does Marco Things, he's statistically more likely to see only Marco Results. For better or for worse.
Weirdly, this provides him a slight edge over the house. Sometimes it even earns him a night in The Rain Man Suite.
But, like any good advantage player, Marco is diligent, smart, well-informed, and resourceful.
Viz. he has the kind of “good luck” that has been preceded by tenacious work.
