@drmike This is how cults work
The base currency of belonging to a cult is the transaction love, place of belonging & a narrative of absolute heroism, gods chosen people etcetera, in return for demontrations of absolute loyalty
Paradoxically, when demonstrations of loyalty get ever-harder — as in having to lie in the face of reality — the loyalty signal from the member _increases_ and the group loves them more for it
Consequently, return to normal society is also made harder
Quoting John Baldry:
"It ain't easy"
('deprogramming' / detaching from cults)
And it's exponentially harder with 24/7 reinforcement by cult-friendly media, #Sanewashing by the MSM and recycling #cult #disinformation of even the most bizarre, Loomer/MTG level dribble.
@drmike
I have a (hopeful?) feeling that the #election won't be nearly as close as the #polls keep telling us. #Harris should win big as long as turnout's big. And the size of the loss will spur huge questions of:
"How did the polls get it so wrong?"
Mostly (IMHO) it's b/c the Media *needs* a horse race to stay in business.
NO ONE is standing outside the NYT demanding they stop #sanewashing Harris.
100's of Democratic officials aren't endorsing #DementiaDon.
I sure hope that's the case, a mountain of "how did the polls get this so wrong?"
You're quite right about the general "horse race" paradigm, and of course polls are notoriously fluid "snapshots" and also the sampling is not necessarily as "representative" as might be claimed, or hoped.
As for #sanewashing ... yeah, too little correction or acknowledgment from some, like the curiously "weird" New York Times of late. Wondering what is going on there, but... #IIWII
@drmike
I've mentioned on here before: "The only #poll I pay attention to is '#money'. Not the 'total' but how much comes from 'small donors'."
The #Harris campaign raised over $320M from online donations post-#debate… nearly twice as much as #TFG ($195M).
A single billionaire could give #DarthTraitor $200M, but that's just one vote.
Individuals who donate are typically "locked in" votes. That's why my only poll is "where's the money coming from?"
This race is NOT as close as they say.
