@cmconseils do you realize how literally fucking perverse this is? I suppose the kiffness doesn’t, he just thinks silly propaganda dude saying some weird shit about cats is funny to musically riff on. But in fact all this is doing is normalizing fascist racist propaganda. A million shames on the kiffness and a million shames on you. #krokodili

@melanie @cmconseils

You have your head very far up your ass. That's why the brilliant satire and mockery of this piece whooshed right over you. Pointing and laughing at nazis is a very effective way of dealing with them politically. Make their sympathizers embarrassed to be associated with them,

@melanie @cmconseils @artemesia don’t you think if something has the potential to be misunderstood or interpreted in a way that reinforces propaganda that is lethal that it’s temporary amusement value is outweighed by potential harm and lasting damage?

@AnneleiseHall @melanie @cmconseils

No, I don't think I will let the perfect be the enemy of the brilliant. This biting mockery of a presidential candidate attempting to issue a blood libel and instead looking like an utter fool, will ensure that every internet-capable person in america knows of it, and for the ~60 million who watched the debate, that they will remember it through november.

I will note that most in this thread critizing it for "that's not funny, and you're reinforcing the libel" are of German or Swedish nationality. I don't go to germans or swedes for expertise on humor, especially american humor.

Hint: it's not "temporary amusement value", it's hanging that blood libel millstone around mangolini's neck and calling out his clownshow performance in the debate, and making sure people remember it through november. Already at a million-plus views on youtube, and youtube lags with its stats reporting.

@melanie @artemesia @cmconseils those call are coming from the US from people affected in the city itself. What arrogance to ignore evidence of harm for your own ego and somehow a million views shows it doing no harm? Not everyone thinks like you. Staggered by the hubris.

@AnneleiseHall @melanie @cmconseils

Um, check the self descriptions of the "that's not funny" crowd. You'll find one on a swedish instance, others post more in german than they do english.

It's not arrogance or hubris, it's fucking knowledge that anyone prone to believe the blood libel will do so regardless of the video, and the blood libel will reach them via means other that the video and likely already has. Meanwhile millions of low information voters will be like, "why is there a viral video involving mangolini talking about eating cats and dogs? OMG, he said what??? In a presidential debate???"

Are you seriously trying to contort yourself to a position where you blame the springfield bomb threats and death threats on this video? Hint: those threats were happening in volume well before the video launched.

@melanie @cmconseils @artemesia no it’s just amplifying it and keeping it going. Videos calling out and condemning the overt use of Nazi tactics would be more helpful activism and more helpful to Springfield residents who are the real people at the centre of this ‘big joke’ on the left and ‘violent fascist attacks’ on the right

@AnneleiseHall @melanie @cmconseils

"Videos calling out and condemning the overt use of Nazi tactics would be more helpful activism "

Dead wrong. Mocking nazis is the most effective way to destroy them politically. Make people embarassed to be associated with them. This video has done more to deflate american nazism than all the Lincoln Project videos combined. Earnest do-gooder statements against american nazism don't do shit, and besides, Biden already called out the blood libel (did you even notice?).

The best thing we can do for the people of springfield is elect Kamala Harris and give her a real senate majority to work with. This video works towards that goal.

@cmconseils @artemesia @melanie I think it’s funny but I don’t agree. I think that’s very naive and privileged.
@melanie @artemesia @cmconseils although I do agree about electing Harris. It a long time til January to stay locked in your house and deal with bomb threats though.
