I presume that the advantage of refueling by gas versus electric will change radically within 10 years?

• Massively more places to charge
• Much higher adoption/availability of highest-speed EV recharge
• Reduction in gas stations or number of pumps. Some stations will add EV, for sure; others will sell valuable land for other purposes
• At some point, gas stations availability will shrink enough that you would be waiting in long lines and/or having range anxiety about finding the next one.

@glennf oh, and I keep seeing new gas stations built and all I can think is, who the hell thinks this a good idea? The payback period on this can’t be that short.

I also wonder if charging stations don’t end up being more common in restaurants and shopping areas, not “stations”, even if electric charging doesn’t get as fast as a gas stop. The use of that prime real estate will definitely change.

@hardly_ted @glennf I feel like charging will become the new Wi-Fi , as it will be something a business will add to be a reason to stop in and choose them.

Just like in the old days when Wi-Fi hotspots were scarce and something you had to hunt for...

@smros @glennf that is a fantastic analogy. When you found WiFi you typically needed to pay, in terms of making a coffee or tea purchase. That’s almost like paying to charge.
