ApricotMedium@g0nz4 GNU/Linux has its share of disappointing updates too. I'm still very salty about the time I updated from Stretch to Bookworm and, due to some pedantic dickweedery about font rendering on HiDPI screens, there was no more hinting. I can't afford a HiDPI monitor and everything is blurry. I'd switch to bitmap fonts if I could at this point.

@g0nz4 Same problem as in Bookworm. I just can't get full #hinting. Look at the #Debian 9 screenshot: the fonts are so crispy I want to chew them. Compare with the grayish blurry fonts in #Mint 22 - with the same settings in Xfce. I've been told that support for hinting is gone in new versions of the font renderer.
