Finally getting caught up on the new GQ #Phish article. Mike telling the reporter that if the rail riders were genuinely inspirational that they would be doing something meaningful with their lives instead of coming to shows every night might be the single greatest band member quote in an interview ever.

FWIW, I have nothing against those who see every show. I wish I could quit my job and do the same. But it’s pretty narcissistic and gross to think you’re powering the band.

@chopaganda Help me here… Do the RRs mean ‘they’ as in RRs+ the crowd as a whole or do they mean ‘they’ as in themselves(me)?
My first show was Hampton 97 (GA), people would roam up front and all over. There was no memorable tarping or micro aggressive ‘space’ dicks AND the band tore shit up. Repeat, next show, next year, and so on. If RRs believe they’re singularly the necessary ingredient to a good show because of cosmic conjuring (or whatever they’re bringing to the party) I’m dead.
@bethbjammin A not-so-small portion of dedicated rail riders firmly believe that the shows will suffer if they are not on or close to the rail inspiring the band with their energy.
