Annoyed with authors who write books that are way too long I sought out shorter books to read so now I'm puzzling why I find myself 100 pages into Dhalgren with no sign of stopping.
@dpiponi I couldn't get very far with it. Maybe I should try again.
@lindsey I was expecting Burroughsian (is that the adjective?) or Joycean weirdness but so far it's perfectly readable with most (but not all) of it making sense. No hint of a plot though.
@dpiponi @lindsey There never comes to be a traditional plot with some singular difficulty to overcome, but I stayed pretty fascinated with the way the characters were developed. You can also get a book that's a combination Babel-17 and Empire Star, which are two shorter, more plotted Samuel Delaney stories. I'd recommend them
