I'd want to be an enchanter or elf but the most powerful I'd probably just be a non magical human. The most powerful I could possibly get would be a Witch Week witch, but that reality never lasts because it leads to problematic omnipotence.
This sort of omnipotence is actually dealt with in a different way in my story. Elves warp reality with their imagination so elves that develop too much imagination are ascended to a different plane where they become gods.
The issue is that there's never definitive proof you ascended. Particularly since the process sometimes stalls. The supernatural powers of the gods are very slowed down so you can't prove their spells weren't actually predictions. Alex died and then merged with Morgaine which caused Morgaine's appearance to change, but from the perspective of a skeptic, this just looks like Morgaine identifying their changed appearance with Alex to cope with grief.
