UK/IE Kindle giveaway: 10 copies of @naominovik's The Last Graduate (The Scholomance Book 2). As the title says, it's the 2nd book in a trilogy. Note that these require an amazon.co.uk Kindle account!

This series is, well, fantastic of course since it's a fantasy, but it is also *stunning*. The first book gives us a wizard school that is clearly evil by design. This book follows up on that and gets Our Hero to graduation.

Which, as the first book established, has something like a 50% survival rate. This particular book in the series is, I'd say, more about filling out the world -- what the people in the magical society are like, what Our Protagonist is like, the importance of social circles, and so forth. (The third book turns the entire series into a retelling of a classic story and I was stunned when I realized that.)

This series is so good that I am comfortable giving out the middle one -- if you haven't read it, I *strongly* recommend going out and getting A DEADLY EDUCATION (which is about €4.50 right now, I think) so you can read this one. And then get the third one.

*Please* share this giveaway any way you can, because the UK/IE books are very hard for me to get out enough. Not enough UK/IE followers, I presume, as opposed to any inherent mistrust of free books. 😄

@kithrup I already have this, and have already read it. Great fun
@bellinghman I have it equated to Carey's Pandominion duology in my head.

@kithrup Ah, that was quite something. Thank you for sparking me into reading that - it had been a while since I'd read anything by him

There was a bookshop event in Cambridge, decades ago, where they managed to get Carey and a bunch of other writers in to talk about their books. One of the others was, IIRC, S F Said

@bellinghman @kithrup

How did I miss that MR Carey has 2 new books out? He's one of my favorite writers!

@Zumbador @bellinghman The first one is on US Kindle sale for $3 right now!

@kithrup

Bought it! Thank you for the heads up. I was just at a loss for what to read next
