I think it's now an open question of if @CrackMeIfYouCan publishes their write-up of how they created the contest before or after I actually get around to cracking the contest hashes vs. getting distracted by side quests.
Spoiler: They are totally going to win this one since my next blog post is probably going to focus on compiling JtR with OpenCL support to target some of the contest hashes with GPU support.
