@AnarchistArt Not a good comparison - this is just cope.
The peasants were given a tool, not money to choose brands, to work for their lord;

You have to go out of your way to choose an iPhone, compared to Android it's:
-Either more expensive or lesser value
-Less repairable
-Has planned obsolescence
-Less freedom & independence for the user
-Less options for non-store/FOSS apps
-Less privacy options

It's one thing to participate in Capitalism, another to actively fund it's worst perpetuators

@Chillin98 @AnarchistArt You're literally the

A: we should improve society somehow
B: yet you participate in society. Curious. I'm very intelligent.

Meme.

Your argument is stupid.

@ninafelwitch @AnarchistArt saying you can't improve society because you're part of it sure is a stupid argument, lucky me that it wasn't what I argued - not even the capitalist equivalent of that

I argued that there's a difference by merely participating in Capitalism/society and actively choosing to contribute to the worst aspects

I'm not even arguing you can't have nicer or higher quality things, but paying extra purely for branding rather than quality is hypocritical

@Chillin98 some people have no other choice than to get an iPhone. For whatever reason. Your argument is still stupid. Maybe it's a used iPhone. Maybe their parents bought it. Maybe they need it because of a specific app that's only available on ios. The reason doesn't matter. You can have an iPhone and still try to dismantle capitalism.

@ninafelwitch you know what? Fair point on people inheriting/getting it, or maybe it's their business phone

But still, sticking to the Apple ecosystem you forfeit so much power to them, it's hard to get anything past them - and sure, Android is plagued with Google, but at least there are WAY more means to change that

We're in the internet age of information - data is power, if you can't take the little step to leave a corporation's control, It'll be an even harder step to overthrow them

@Chillin98 That is true, of course. We should all try to get as far away as possible from Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon and all the other corporations that want to control every second of our lives.

But even if you can't. Your fight against capitalism is still valid. Not everyone is skilled enough to leave Microsoft. For some people Amazon might be the only way to get a product. I still use Google drive and Google docs. And some people need an iPhone to communicate with their family who all use iPhones too.

And some people are on mastodon.social even though there are way better instances 🤷‍♀️

@ninafelwitch touche on the mastodon comment

I've only recently started trying out federated social media, after taking a long break from social media as a whole, so I took the most populated/vanilla instance
