The rumors have it that the RAM on the M4 Macs will start at 16GB. I don't know if I believe that, feels like 12GB would be more likely. But what would truly be peak Apple is if they started at 9GB.

@paul of course Apple being Apple, they’ll increase base RAM to 16gb and increase base prices by $200
@andrew_writes would consider it a win since the base models often go on sale at 3rd party retailers and is the one that gets sold used.
@paul mm true fair enough. And I’d so much rather live with 16gb/256gb rather than 8gb/512gb like I think the m3 mbp is
Gabriel Viso Carrera@andrew_writes @paul I am probably exaggerating but imo Apple is manufacturing e-waste with non-upgradable 8GB laptops.
They’re the only ones you find refurbished and they stay on sale for ages.
I see them as baits for naive customers to get the entry level, just to go back within the 15-day return period to pay the extra $200 and get the 16GB instead.
