U.S. citizens, especially if you live in a swing state:

• Go to vote.gov (don't trust other portals)

• Verify you are registered and all info is correct. If not, (re-)register.

• Check voter registration deadline for your state

• Set a colorful calendar reminder for 2 weeks before that date

• When reminded, return to vote.gov to verify you are still registered. If not, re-register.

This is to fight the ongoing republican program of purging voter rolls, and to update your address as needed.

@valdelane A very important warning, which makes me extremely glad I live in a state that does everything it can to register and get a ballot to EVERYONE eligible, rather than de-register people.

(Vote by mail, automatic motor-voter registration.)

@valdelane I'd like to also include a reliable source: https://www.vote411.org The website is provided by the League of Women Voters and includes information about what you can do to support the vote as well as individual voting information. They're looking for all sorts of local volunteers, so if you have any spare time, please get involved!

@valdelane thanks for the information! It's absolutely stupid we have to think about this.
@valdelane coming from a country where voter registration is done automatically when a government id is issued, that sounds... exhausting.
@jmcs Indeed, exhausting and exasperating.

@valdelane @xot why do you need to (potentially) re-register twice? Why not just bear the deadline?

@valdelane Gross.

Or vote Airbus and get on with the rest of your life.

@valdelane
This needs to be shared. Especially with one party trying to suppress voting.
