But for autistic people it's not - we have monotropic thinking which means we tend to focus much more intensely on one thing at once and therefore being disrupted is far more difficult which is why receiving phone calls is harder.
@fifilamoura @CedC @autism101 @[email protected] The secondary reason is needing more time to process information. This makes it more difficult even on phone calls we initiate, not knowing what is going to happen and having less access to signals from the other person whilst retaining the norm of responding immediately.
I am very wary of having important conversations on the phone where I don't know exactly what I am seeking already for fear I will agree to something just to end the stress of the conversation without thinking it through.
