Wonder what this is all about?
@intothewestaway I was looking around all of the #L1ON websites seeing about ticket prices and merch and stuff. I don't know how these teams make money, but it doesn't appear to be from having fans.
The fact that they're looking for a 2,500 seat stadium, and not just a field tells me they want room for fans.
If they want that much room for fans, that does make me wonder if they're looking to leap out of league 1.
We'll have to wait and see though.
Halifax is tops with attendance average 6,100. Forge with 5,200.

@intothewestaway Even Vancouver FC has already surpassed the 2,500 mark, and that's with them playing in the Whitecaps' backyard, so things can grow pretty quickly.
York has been a laggard, but the new ownership seems to be correcting that. They've had massive yoy growth.
My thought is that a 2,500 seater would be fairly easy to get off the ground, but plan it with growth in mind, so that they can easily add capacity as needed.
@intothewestaway @hewer_of_code it’s interesting. I have friends involved with that club.
I’m a member of the TSS Rovers Supporters Trust and I can tell you the League 1 economics are hard. Mostly sponsorship keeps our operational costs covered.
I don’t think CPL is doing well at the gate. VFC does not have 2500 at every game and they don’t count the gate.
CSB is what keeps this league going, I believe.
Thanks Chris, good perspective. We are fortunate with Caretaker Bob Young as an owner. Plus sharing facilities with the ticats keeps the costs down.
@hewer_of_code @intothewestaway I have no idea how VFC is doing it. And having the same ownership owning PFC too must be stretching that whole ownership group. Both of those teams have a decent chance to succeed but the clubs aren’t building culture and community ownership very well.
They should have named VFC for Langley or the Valley and let the club be a proud rep of that region. Calling it VFC set them off on the back foot.
@chriscorrigan @intothewestaway
The Cavs announced a regular season record attendance of 5,043 tickets sold. Judging from what I saw on the stream, those were real tickets, not giveaways.
@intothewestaway King is sparsely populated, but there's a lot of money there. This is where Leon of #CanWNT is from, which is the Leon of Leon's the furniture store. They've def got the money, but maybe they'd invest in a NSL team first (which would be just as good).
I read a tiny bit about Peterborough, but didn't get what actually happened there.
Peterborough ownership, from what I read earlier, over extended themselves. Had a (the) highest payroll. Attracted names, started with good marketing, but couldn't sustain the costs. Pro sports is not for the faint hearted.
I do know about King City/Vaughan area and Leon. Mainly from the political world. So many developers drooling at private Fordfests, I imagine.
