Nazis didn't start by attacking the Jews. They started by attacking trans people, disabled people, and a group of mostly undocumented migrant workers called the Romani.

1. First they labeled them as dangerous and unpatriotic deviants.
2. Then they passed laws controlling their movement and access to services.
3. Then they criminalized their existence.
4. THEN they put them in concentration camps and gassed them along with millions of Jews.

And once you remember that, MAGA's words and actions against trans people, disabled folks, and undocumented migrant workers start to make a whole lot more sense.

@Lana I am rereading a rather TERFy SWERfy second wave feminist who is not fit for general consumption in 2024, and the scales are falling from my eyes!

The  is not a safe place for inteligente femme-presenting people over the age of fifty.

All I can do is spill the tea and say "I defect", but antisemitism is still alive and Hitler may have lost the battle, but I will fight the war to my dying breath and publicly narc out  while I privately repost mutual aid requests from the ladies, both trans and single mamas.

This is bullshit.

@Lana my wife @Posibilities_Penguin has Romani roots... and yes, I saw the correlations when the right wing first started leaning into them over 30 years ago.

And was called both "hysterical" and "prone to hyperbole" when I pointed it out.

"I told you so" is weak sauce as we're paraded to the "showers". 🚿🚿🚿

@Lana No. The Nazis visited Hell upon the Jews from the moment they consolidated power. It was bad in 1933 and it only got worse.
@markvonwahlde @Lana They exacted laws and started to isolate them from society but they worked out their rounding and killing system on the disabled ,and people stood back and let them ,which emboldened Hitler to start the holocaust https://encyclopedia.ushmm.org/content/en/article/the-murder-of-people-with-disabilities .I am sorry but that is historical fact .
The Murder of People with Disabilities

At the beginning of WWII, people with mental or physical disabilities were targeted for murder in what the Nazis called the T-4, or "euthanasia," program.

@Lana Uh-oh, here we go again πŸ˜„

*checks replies*

@Lana racism against Romani people is unfortunately pretty much as bad these days too, at least in Europe πŸ₯²
@hazelnot @Lana I think its got a little bit better ,we had a friend who worked with the UN ,she gives talks in schools and runs a charity helping women and children across the world which gets a lot of support and shes Roma .That would have been unthijkable and un do able when I was young ,But the majority of people are still prejudiced
@LynMhairi @Lana yeah, I live in Romania and most people will go "oh that's cause you've never been mugged by a [slur]" if you try to tell someone off for being racist against Romani people, but younger people are less prejudiced at least, there is a growing number of people who will fight against anti-Romani racism online and stuff according to a friend (most Romanians are on Facebook and Instagram which I avoid lol)
