Antitrust didn’t slip down that staircase and fall spine-first on that stiletto: they stabbed it in the back and then they *pushed it*.
And when they killed antitrust, they also killed regulation, the *second* force that disciplines companies. Regulation *is* possible, but only when the regulator is more powerful than the regulated entities. When a company is bigger than the government, it gets damned hard to credibly threaten to punish that company, no matter what its sins.
