After years of using iTunes for music (previous to that was MacAST on MacOS 9 😅), Apple Music on Sonoma is not recognizing my iTunes library. First time I tried Apple Music since updating from Ventura. I might troubleshoot later, but do folks have an MP3 player that they like?
really quickly looking at other music apps, it seems like MacOS sandboxes music in the user's music folder on the onboard storage, whereas I have my music on an external HDD... #ThanksApple 😵‍💫. More troubleshooting later, back to work...

@koutropoulos I've used the Vox player before (specifically for other formats like FLAC) and have always liked it.

Hope you (and especially Apple) get the music library issue sorted out!

@koutropoulos Oh, I meant to include this link https://vox.rocks/mac-music-player

@koutropoulos Mostly commenting to follow. The only other thing I've used to play big collections of MP3s is Mixxx, but that's really DJ software and I think trying to use it headless would (a) take a ton of setup and (b) still feel like a kludge.
@joemurphy I've had a dream of getting a DJ console for my Mac for a decade now. Never been the right time (school/work/other hobbies), and it would be just for me to geek out lol. For a more involved music experience I'd go the mixx route, but there are instances where you just want to point the player to a list of MP3s, hit shuffle, and let it take over 🙂
@koutropoulos Mixxx has an AutoDJ feature but it doesn't hold a candle to Smart Playlists (which I use extensively).
