I also find it funny that people think Twitter is all MAGA now. I work in crypto. It's pretty libertarian, but I don't see any maga content. ETH is the most rainbow culture I've ever seen in tech. Mastodon however, is clearly an echo chamber.
@bad_sonic Sometimes doing what is good means sacrifice. In fact, that's what the poster is about. Driving alone might be convenient, but during World War II it was bad for the country if you drove alone since it would take resources away from the war effort.
One of the reasons Elon wanted Twitter is because there was nothing like it and because it would be a sacrifice for people to leave. Buying Twitter, he could use people's desire for access to every celebrity/politician/reporter to push his propaganda and harm the people he wants harmed.
Doing what is good isn't always the easiest path.
โ@LilahTovMoon it seems like it's time for anyone left of project 2025 and maga to quietly stop buying Teslas.
I'm not in the Musk is an idiot camp, he created the environments for engineering excellence and innovation to occur in SpaceX and Tesla. By surrounding himself with best and brightest.
But by the time he bought twitter this had changed to yes people. Well documented in book Breaking Twitter.
In terms Elon understands, he has jumped the shark unless engineering+physics rules: space
@LilahTovMoon ok but
mastadon post 4 hours: 3 favorites
twitter post (same) 2 hours: 150 likes, and comments, some silly, but thats ok.
Its hard to exert effort posting if you repeatedly get almost nothing back :(
@RueNahcMohr @LilahTovMoon its pretty much a negative feedback loop. People don't want to move over because they don't get as much engagement, but you can't get more engagement if no one is moving over.
I decided I would take the approach of using Twitter to keep up with people rather than microblog on it anymore.
@LilahTovMoon After reading a toot that Trump asked on Twitter if you are better off now than 4 years ago, I logged onto X found the thing, and posted a reply that we are better off now. I added that the only reason I bothered to post anything at all was due to an article I saw on mastodon.
Of course we are better off now. 4 years ago, we were stuck at home due to a pandemic!
Holy shit this is perfect.
