When you use Twitter, you ride with Elon and Trump
@LilahTovMoon omfg. You realize how terrible this rhetoric is for either side right?
@shadow06 @LilahTovMoon what? The rhetoric of calling out fascists is dangerous? I guess it's dangerous for personal safety if the fascists get mad.
@Th3BFG @LilahTovMoon Oh the irony of running fascist propaganda against fascists.

@Th3BFG @LilahTovMoon

I also find it funny that people think Twitter is all MAGA now. I work in crypto. It's pretty libertarian, but I don't see any maga content. ETH is the most rainbow culture I've ever seen in tech. Mastodon however, is clearly an echo chamber.

@shadow06 @LilahTovMoon I agree in that I don't think its all MAGA. I will say Twitter like most social media creates echo-chambers based on the things we like and engage in. If you look, there are an unignorable amount of MAGA people on Twitter and they're supported by the person who owns and operates the site.

Don't feed the water-mudding trolls..
How the Crypto World Learned to Love Donald Trump, J.D. Vance, and Project 2025

Some crypto enthusiasts are now all in on Donald Trump, believing he will be a major boon for the industry if elected.

Time
@mathew @shadow06 @LilahTovMoon a Time article with Trump and JD Couch? I ain't clicking that shit.
@shadow06 @LilahTovMoon you realize how terrible fascists are, right?
@draeath @LilahTovMoon Yes, and if you can't see the "fascist" tendencies on both sides of the isle you're deluding yourself.
@LilahTovMoon but there is nothing like twitter. (Any celebrity, politician and Reporter)
@bad_sonic @LilahTovMoon and yet, with as bad as it's become, nothing has risen to directly replace it, which leads me to believe that it's... just not worth replacing.

@bad_sonic Sometimes doing what is good means sacrifice. In fact, that's what the poster is about. Driving alone might be convenient, but during World War II it was bad for the country if you drove alone since it would take resources away from the war effort.

One of the reasons Elon wanted Twitter is because there was nothing like it and because it would be a sacrifice for people to leave. Buying Twitter, he could use people's desire for access to every celebrity/politician/reporter to push his propaganda and harm the people he wants harmed.

Doing what is good isn't always the easiest path.

@LilahTovMoon if it's free, you're the product in the corporate world.
@kaspa @LilahTovMoon in a corporate world u r the product. Period
Your money may gain u some additional features but u will still be exploited whenever possible
@pandora @LilahTovMoon I can't argue that, because even if you pay-they're still tracking you and doing everything to get more penny's out of you.
@LilahTovMoon
The way things are going, it's only a matter of time before he starts threatening to sue users who leave.
@LilahTovMoon you just invented a new fucked-up nazi: elon trump โ€‹โ€‹
@LilahTovMoon i thought trump is not anymore elons bff as he has his own shit site
@LilahTovMoon @kayeluvian Agreed - John Mastodon is a far more safe and satisfying ride.

@LilahTovMoon it seems like it's time for anyone left of project 2025 and maga to quietly stop buying Teslas.

I'm not in the Musk is an idiot camp, he created the environments for engineering excellence and innovation to occur in SpaceX and Tesla. By surrounding himself with best and brightest.

But by the time he bought twitter this had changed to yes people. Well documented in book Breaking Twitter.

In terms Elon understands, he has jumped the shark unless engineering+physics rules: space

@LilahTovMoon re twitter: I made an account when it started but, having done weird stuff like reading real books about real things, where laying out the point might take hundreds of pages, the whole 250 character thing struck me as dumb. Basically forced you to create snappy soundbites to get attention. So I stopped using it. Since I haven't used it since, and that account was long since pruned, and I'm not making new one, I miss nothing. This is the secret all for profit social media fears.
@LilahTovMoon Thats why im so hqppy here, on #mastodon
@LilahTovMoon
Bootlickers! The lot of them!
@LilahTovMoon Never have, never will use Twitter--no matter what you call it!
@LilahTovMoon Used to use Twitter, left it nearly a year ago, and don't regret it

@LilahTovMoon ok but

mastadon post 4 hours: 3 favorites

twitter post (same) 2 hours: 150 likes, and comments, some silly, but thats ok.

Its hard to exert effort posting if you repeatedly get almost nothing back :(

@RueNahcMohr @LilahTovMoon its pretty much a negative feedback loop. People don't want to move over because they don't get as much engagement, but you can't get more engagement if no one is moving over.

I decided I would take the approach of using Twitter to keep up with people rather than microblog on it anymore.

@maxinehayes @LilahTovMoon I'm pedaling hard, if its going to happen I know it will take time.
I'm trying to exit the bots and ads.

@LilahTovMoon After reading a toot that Trump asked on Twitter if you are better off now than 4 years ago, I logged onto X found the thing, and posted a reply that we are better off now. I added that the only reason I bothered to post anything at all was due to an article I saw on mastodon.

Of course we are better off now. 4 years ago, we were stuck at home due to a pandemic!
