A few days ago someone opened a GTK PR for Android support. That is awesome!

Introducing new android backend (!7555) · Merge requests · GNOME / gtk · GitLab

I'm working on an Android backend implementation for GDK/GTK, with the goal of eventually merging it upstream. The aim of this PR is to establish a functional initial...

@tristan957 There are so many fucking GTK apps I would love to be on android, like shortwave, music, bleachbit
@Jessica @tristan957 I so want tuba on my phone (so much that I'm trying to learn how to write mobile linux apps so i can justify the switch lol)
@tristan957 Woah! That's really nice!!
@tristan957 I didn't even know that there was no Android support, I assumed there was because Qt definitely does
@tristan957 I wonder if it'd be possible to port to wasm while Broadwayd is still alive and... complete the circle :P
@tristan957 I tried to search something like that years ago, I really hope this is successful!
@tristan957 Newsflash on Android would be cool :)

@tristan957

Unfortunately it didn't work for me on my Pixel 7a, but I might play a bit more later to see why

@gloopsies @tristan957 it's a debug build, signed with a debug key. You'll need to install it with ADB.

@SimonXCIV @tristan957

Thanks, that did work!

I didn't know that I can't install 'unverified' apks on android anymore, they don't even provide a useful error message either

@tristan957
That's really exiting! I downloaded the APKs in the PR to my Pixel 7, but it said something like "Invalid package". Is there a quick way to fix this?
@jak2k maybe it's related to the signing key?

@tristan957
Yes, probably. Installing with Pi + Shizuku worked. The app is usable. I only noticed a missing icon for the second tab of the preferences and the windows buttons are of course somewhat redundant, but still very awesome.

I can't wait for more apps to be available on Android! Flatpak support would of course be a killer, but that's probably just dreaming at this point…

@tristan957 woah this is beyond awesome
@tristan957 NEED, NEEEEED. so excited
@tristan957 Wow! An Android version of Inkscape in the future would be amazing🤞🤞
@tristan957 hey @federicomena, looks like the contributor is having some issues with modern librsvg versions, I smell rust toolchain issues
