@VeroniqueB99 you have to know the difference is there is no baby involved
@mcgroover ...not sure what you mean.
@VeroniqueB99 well the fact that one situation involves just paternal genes and the other forms a zygote of combined genes and some would say a new individual genetically. Im not suggesting the scrutiny you are alluding to for an abortion but comparing the two is not analogous IMO
@mcgroover this isn't about biology really. It's about bodily autonomy and as a full grown individual, either having it or not. The scrutiny in question only exists because some people think it's ok to legislate medical procedures, only for certain individuals. The comparison isn't comparing procedures but agency.

@VeroniqueB99 well pro lifers would argue it is all about biology since their focus is saving the life of what they consider an unborn child.

There could be a debate on whether the zygote is an unborn child, or whether saving that zygote is worth infringing on the mother's rights, but just reducing it down to pro lifers wanting to control the mothers rights completely skirts the whole points where the two sides disagree.

@VeroniqueB99 (and helps to feel better in an echo chamber but doesnt advance public discourse IMO)
@mcgroover The 2 sides are always going to disagree. There's no fixing this. The only question is that some Joe Shmoe thinks their opinion matters and should be take into account in the health management of everyone. It prevents doctors from doing their job (abortion isn't a 'decision', not really), it prevents people from accessing healthcare just because somebody somewhere has an opinion about it...🤷‍♀️
