We're aware of reports that access to Signal has been blocked in some countries. As a reminder, Signal's built-in censorship circumvention feature might be able to help if your connection is affected:

@shadow06 @signalapp Russian authorities started blocking it today. Other countries that had been blocking it are Iran, China, Uzbekistan and Cuba.

@lyyn @shadow06 @signalapp when I lived in Iran I ran my own Signal proxy. It was a great thing. It was also a lot of effort to accomplish something via Signal that was much easier with federated protocols like XMPP, Matrix, and Delta Chat. Signal is a great product for mass consumption, but it still requires a phone number and a central provider. To get Signal desktop to connect I ran it with a CLI option to enable SOCKS and then tunneled over TOR or SSH.
