Christine Burns MBE 🏳️⚧️📚⧖Channel 4 News covers the pilot of tidal power generation off Orkney but I get the impression the engineer showing their TV reporter around was getting weary of him. But, yes, Orkney does need an urgent interconnector upgrade for ALL the surplus power it generates to be sent south. And, hey, there’s a nice big grid connection just down the road from Thurso that used to connect the Dounreay reactor.
xi timpin@christineburns Only caught part of that report in the broadcast... but I wonder how big the connection is at Dounreay given that generation ended 30 years ago and both reactors were experimental & fairly small scale.
There's a general lack of capacity in the grid to get power from Scotland to England.
