Bolívar started the idea of una América, but it was Martí who created a framework for Panamericanism.

watching the #Olympics and seeing how #ClaroSports organizes it’s broadcasting around atletas latinoamericanos, no matter where they come from has had me thinking about them.

Bolívar and Martí’s revolution was, like USA, of criollo olygarchies wrestling power from the European cartels they came from.

it explains why capitalism devoured & coopted Panamericanism as a marketing tactic.

am not saying Panamericanismo is a bad thing.

am just reckoning revolution, as defined by 13 British colonies rising against The Crown and King in 1776 ―emulated across the pond in France, then ricochetting all across América Latina― really doesn't mean what we think it means.

revolution as we know it has been, over and over again, used to protect the power of emerging oligarchies that end up supposedly betraying said revolutions.

maybe revolution is how we the masses are played.

I’m reading The Labyrinth of Solitude by #OctavioPaz and he touches on the distinction between South American revolutions and Mexico, specifically.
@blogdiva oof... that's a downer but you're not wrong

@blogdiva I’ve been listening to a podcast on the French Revolution and some of what I’ve learnt is nuts.
