Heading to the airport to fly down to SFO. Start of my first [[DWeb Camp]] experience, including facilitating the unconference-style [[Emergent Day]].

For #DWebCamp I set up a HedgeDoc instance. It’s meant to be a default spot for notes, sharing, & collaboration.
I just finished Robin Sloan’s Sourdough, so I made a /books page dweb.camp/books
On theme for some of the d-food topics at camp this year.
HedgeDoc 1.x has a number of down sides — root page isn’t customizable, can’t easily show lists of all notes, very much a centralized app (although open source & self-hosted).
But it’s very solid for synchronous, collaborative markdown editing.

I talked to the #DWebCamp network team a bit last night. It’s only a 50Mbps back haul network from camp, so it’s best if things run locally, on the local wifi network.
So…I might try and dump the database and install locally.
Stopped in Boonville. BLT + sweet potato fries + cappuccino + Yerba mate from Boonville General Store Cafe Bakery Deli omaps.app/8jmo6metzx/B...

Yesterday: Opening ceremonies, +400 people in camp, back to my cabin at midnight because of late night chatting - Georgism & Pawnbroker 3.0.
Friends old & new over breakfast. Thanks for letting me know if you came to #DWebCamp because of me talking about it!
Marie talks about Drip App, the menstrual cycle tracking app dripapp.org - data on device, secure, private, and exportable.
What would it look like for local first / DWeb protocols to improve on this? And not make Marie do the work.

One of my cabin roomies also brought a Daylight Computer Tablet along.
Come see Mek or me if you want to try it.
The team is interested in making the hardware be DWeb friendly (really!)
It’s Android Open Source today with one first party reader app.

Day Two #DWebCamp
Today I’m sitting in the Amphitheater which is mainly all open social protocols.
Started with @ronent.bsky.social presenting on nano publishing, FAIR, Semantic Web to upgrade plain social posts
Last night was PowerPoint karaoke. Has me inspired to organize some in Vancouver.
Today is Emergent Day that I was helping lead. Felt pretty rough this morning scheduling.

Today the bus took everyone away at 11am, leaving about 80 volunteers, fellows, and other helpers to break down the camp.
I volunteered to cook dinner with a great crew.
We prepped & cooked the meal all afternoon. Hunter did a great job, here he is cooking the chicken larb I made.
