For those trapped in heat waves or domes (or the rest of us who need puffins) here’s a very determined Antarctic guy for coolant.

He looks like he’s late for something he really doesn’t care to attend.

@SherBeareth When do you sleep? I often wonder? I mean, I barely sleep, up all night.. but so are you? BTW. About 3 miles offshore, and about 6 miles from my boat launch, is an island that Puffins nest on. There's only a dozen places, only about 3 are publicly know, the big places. But, my boat is small and the sea is rough, I've been trying to get out in spring to see the puffins. It's been 50 years since I saw them there.
@Rasta But don’t get in the middle of mating season. That’s one loud puffin right there.
@SherBeareth
The island that they are on (I'm reluctant to share location lest it draw kayakers from the city that might disrupt nesting. It's not protected, because it's not one of the listed known nesting islands.
There are sheer cliffs on one side of the island, and mostly Gulls nesting but every seabird nests there. There's only one spot safe to land on the island, and you can be trapped for 6 hours if tide changes. It's not a good idea with a small boat to be out that far when wind comes
@Rasta Oh I hear that. I’m safer with a sailboat than a motor boat myself. I adore islands. There was one in the river at my house.
@SherBeareth I took a sailing course when I was 12 or 13 on the Möhnesee, in Germany (Famous dam that the Dam Busters took out in war time) The lake is near bottomless, and super cold. We had to jump in and swim around a post even with a lifejacket before they would let us go boating. I got a C Class dinghy licence.
I thought when I returned to Canada I could rent one, but you needed your own sailboat and mooring fees, so I never operated a sailboat since. Before that, My father built them,
